     I just re-arranged some things on the site, so that it can be betterly found in your favorite search engine.      Aha! I’ve got it! Well, someone else had it, it just took me a while to find it. I found this program called Fwink which is an opensource webcam thing. Sends the file to FTP site, or saves to a file locally. So I save it to a file locally on the PC and then ran Apache 2.0.48 on the box to serve out the image, and the camera is back in business, and can’t be shut down. Excellent.
