Today, I have come to the realization that I do not have enough time to make the X window system and FreeBSD work together. I’m running a nice system, Pentium 4 2.4BGHz, 533MHz FSB, 512MB PC2700 DDR 333MHz RAM, ASUS P4S533-X motherboard, and D-link DGE-510T gigabit NIC. The network card isn’t supported on FreeBSD, it will work with all varieties of Linux, but, umm, I don’t like Linux. The sound card doesn’t play any sound and unless you add items to /boot/loader.conf it won’t even get recognized. Also, that mother board requires that you have [hw.ata.ata_dma=”0″] in that file to even boot. Not a big deal, but an annoyance just the same. My multi-function machine isn’t supported either, HP doesn’t even have drivers for it. Also, I couldn’t get the ports to install openoffice-1.1 and KDE took a dogs age to get compiled and it crashes and is highly unresponsive. It takes relatively little effort to get that system running at the speed of light with a copy of Windows XP. I wish it were that easy with a powerful operating system that wasn’t the target of so much junk.

Have you heard the latest from Microsoft? They say they’ve developped a way to stop spam. Apparently it envolves charging for email and guess who would be making most of the money off of the idea. What if you wanted to pay to send out your spam? Microsoft wouldn’t be able to stop you from doing that would they.

You know what? I’m ready for a weekend, I need some R&T. Relaxation and Television to numb the mind up from a week of excessive thought.
