I just heard that Bell’s employees are currently testing Bell’s answer to Primus’ Talk Broadband. For those who haven’t heard about it yet, it basically allows you to plug this unit into your high speed connection and then plug a phone line into that. The call is routed accross your internet connection to the phone company and then out whatever switch you choose to use. So, from anywhere in the world, as long as you get online at a fair speed, with a public IP address, you can make a local call from your number for free.
My high-speed service is scheduled to be hooked up on Friday, so I’ll soon return to the land of the living. I can’t wait.
